About the project

The unique design of the souvenir shop in the new gorilla pavilion at Prague Zoo – Dja Reserve simulates the atmosphere of typical shops on the African continent. It ties in with the newly opened gorilla pavilion thanks to its natural atmosphere. This is created by a combination of warm colors, wooden furniture, and deliberately random shelving, which allows customers to move freely and gently guides them through the entire store.

Thanks to the clever arrangement of the furnishings, the space does not lose its airiness – quite the contrary. Tall shelves surround the store only along its perimeter. In the middle, there are low gondolas that do not obstruct the view even for the smallest visitors. This way, no one will miss the products on offer.

The store connects to the newly opened gorilla pavilion mainly thanks to the predominant elements of natural patinated wood. The African atmosphere is further enhanced by decorations featuring original artifacts imported directly from Cameroon. Wooden statues and masks add to the authenticity of the overall design. Customers are thus seamlessly transported from the reserve to the store, and nothing disturbs their African experience.
